Lorena Higbee – Short Story Writer

Lorena Higbee is a 17 year old senior at Norco High School. She spent most of her childhood reading books that thoroughly delighted her imagination. At age 8, her teacher assigned a yearlong journal assignment, which changed her life entirely. Though it was difficult for her to formulate her thoughts into words in the beginning, Lorena eventually found a freedom in her writing that had been absent in her life. It allowed her to express anything. This love manifested in the form of her magazine OC Girls, which was distributed district wide until she promoted to high school, and moved to the inland empire. As a freshman, she became involved with politics and activism. This helped her grow as a writer, and she began to explore more serious topics, like women’s rights. As of now, Lorena has found her niche in fiction. She plans to move to Seattle after graduation, and eventually transfer to Smith’s College to double major in Women’s Studies, and Linguistics. When she is not reading or writing, she enjoys perusing tumblr, cooking, and cuddling with her hamster, Hemmingway.
